JUNIOR CANINE ADVOCATE PROGRAM

our interactive educational program that teaches children how to safely and respectfully interact with dogs through hands-on learning and live canine demonstrations.

MORE DETAILS FOR ADULTS

Education FIRST

The Wag Whisperers: Junior Canine Advocate Program is an engaging yet primarily educational experience that teaches children how to safely and respectfully interact with dogs after a thorough safety presentation.

Dogs are incredible.

Many of us own them ourselves or have people in our lives that do.

But as incredible as I and you may know them to be, but there are still over 400,000 dogs bite reports on children under 12, every year due to lack of adult education & supervision.

Students Learn

Through live dog demonstrations, interactive activities, and age-appropriate safety lessons to;

  • recognize dog body language
  • practice safe interactions
  • respect boundaries

as well as grow their

  • empathy
  • communication
  • and advocacy skills

benefiting both animals and people alike. At the conclusion of every presentation, students have the opportunity to turn what they have learned into a personal commitment with the pledge.

Social & Emotional Awareness

Dogs communicate through body language, personal space, and behavior rather than words.

By learning to recognize these signals, children strengthen important social-emotional skills such as empathy, observation, patience, self-control, and respect for boundaries.

These lessons help children navigate interactions not only with dogs, but also with people, by encouraging them to consider how others may be feeling and respond thoughtfully in social situations.
