Cooperative Care

Do you struggle cutting your dogs nails? Giving them a bath? Do they stress out and struggle at the vets?
This unique class will give you a proper introduction to & desensitization techniques for mandatory pet care that may otherwise be uncomfortable for most dogs. Includes vet care, grooming, evaluation of potential injuries & administering medication. We will cover desensitization to grooming equipment (nail trims), voluntary handling, Placing onto uncomfortable surfaces for exams (vet table, scales, etc), Desensitization to proper restraint techniques both physical and equipment (soft & basket muzzles, Vet holds & surgery aftercare (cones) etc.)
AKC S.T.A.R Puppy

Is your puppy a Star? Well, they CAN be!
AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy is an exciting program designed to get dog owners and their puppies off to a good start. AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy is an excellent first in-person training class for puppies and provides a good lead-in to earning the Canine Good Citizen title.

**For dogs up to 12 months old!**
Our 6 week AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy class will conclude w/ our instructor administering the AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy test. Upon passing the test, you’ll get an application to send to AKC® for enrollment in the AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy Program. All dogs are welcome to participate in the program including purebreds and mixed breeds!
Recall & Emergency
4 weeks
Prerequisite: Basic Obedience class or equivalent thru DYD or Sage Rainier.
Designed to prepare both clients & dogs for exploration navigation. Giving the knowledge & abilities to safely control their dog and situation during an unexpected event.
Curriculum:
- Common and emergency recalls
- Safely protecting your dog (unwanted person/off leash
dog/wild animal approaches, etc.)
- Long lines & safety equipment (how to use and get your dog
accustomed to gear along with when they are appropriate to use)
- Emergency cues (emergency down, recall, and road boundaries)

Every puppy and dog owner has heard the word socialization countless times, but what is it really?
The “social” in socialization has led one too many puppy owners down a direct path to reactivity. Meeting other people and dogs should only about 10% of their early social development.
In puppy pre-school we will focus on exposure, composure, and confidence building around the seemingly never ending sounds, sights, smells, and surfaces of our bustling society. On top of typical puppy topics like potty, crate, and exercise schedules we will set your pup up for success as they discover the world alongside you, setting a strong foundational bond that will last a lifetime!
